Goalkeeper Vincente Guaita has continued to detail how he ended up leaving Crystal Palace in the summer, revealing he had a falling out with manager Roy Hodgson.
The Spaniard has been speaking to DAZN in Spain regarding his move to Celta Vigo, which came about after he left Crystal Palace on a free transfer this summer.
The goalkeeper had been in the final year of his deal at Selhurst Park but found himself out of the first-team last season when Hodgson returned to steer them away from relegation.
That led to him wanting to leave in the summer and Hodgson later revealed Guaita had refused to play in an attempt to speed up his exit from Selhurst Park.
Having got the move and the return to Spain the assumption is that Guaita would be happy with his lot but that has not been the case and from the moment of his arrival he has been continually detailing his exit from Crystal Palace.
His last comments on the matter were that they had made it difficult for him to leave, even holding back transfer papers, and he’s now continued explaining what went on behind the scenes.
“If it is true that we were already in the last years with the desire to change again, we had been in Crystal Palace for many years, where we were very happy, but there were things on the way we did not like,” he said.
“There were six games left to finish the league, I played against Leicester, I was injured and when I came back, the same as when I started with Roy Hodgson, he told me things that I didn’t see coherently.
“That’s when I decided that my year had ended at Crystal Palace, and I communicated it to the president.
“There were difficult times where things got tense, but they thought that the best thing for me was to disconnect from Crystal and let me enjoy football.”
