Juventus manager Thiago Motta has told the Italian media that he doesn’t have any concerns over Douglas Luiz and his mental state.
The Brazil international has come in for criticism in recent weeks following his summer move from Aston Villa to Juventus.
Bianconera News have reported on comments Motta made in his press conference today when asked about the situation with Douglas Luiz. The 26-year-old has yet to establish himself in Motta’s starting eleven since moving from Aston Villa, but the Juventus is boss isn’t worried about the player at this stage.
Motta believes the ex-Villa man has the mental strength to get over his difficulties and is happy how the midfielder has reacted to be left out of the team.
“Honestly, I’ve spoken very little with him, but at the same time I saw a great attitude in training, I find that he is really fine. For strong players like him, these moments of difficulty are used to see the reaction of the player and the person. And I saw a fantastic reaction, he could have stopped but instead he doesn’t stop and continues to train in the right way, even doing something more,” said the Juve coach.
Doulgas Luiz signed for the Serie A side from Aston Villa for a big fee, but the Brazilian has started just one league game since his arrival in Turin.
This has led to a backlash in the Italian press, who have repeatedly, and almost obsessively, questioned his big money transfer from Aston Villa during the last window.
