There’s certainly a lot to say about Nottingham Forest’s return to the Premier League, but one thing the foreign media are excited about is their fans.

The City Ground residents will play in England’s top flight for the first time since the 1998-99 season, with a lot of the progress down to Steve Cooper, who masterminded the return from the bench, but the supporters also had a big part to play in it.

This is something the manager was keen to put across when masses of Nottingham Forest fans celebrated the club’s promotion in the city centre with the players, labelling them the best in the world.

This was something RMC Sport’s English correspondent Mathieu Faurie picked up on and shared with the French audience in a chat with the TV station on their show PL Zone.

He said: “I had the chance to see them once, it was away to Fulham, who ended first, towards the end of the season, which Nottingham Forest won 1-0. The result ended up being crucial for their promotion. From the first row near the pitch to the top corner of the stadium, fans were singing for the whole game. They made an incredible noise.

“I think they’re a community of fans that we can compare to Liverpool last year, but they are going to treat us in the Premier League.”

Nottingham Forest finished fourth in the regular Championship season, which saw them qualify for the playoffs, where they first saw off Sheffield United on penalties before facing Huddersfield in a game at Wembley that ended in a 1-0 win for Steve Cooper’s side.
