We’re not 100% sure, but it seems like Chicharito’s grandfather, Tomas Baltazar, has all but announced the Mexican striker won’t be at West Ham next season.

Speaking to the media on Friday, the former footballer was asked a few questions about his grandson and the Mexico national team ahead of the World Cup, as he picked up the “Primo Nacional de Deportes 2017” award in lieu of the forward, who wasn’t allowed to attend the ceremony by his club.

While his aspirations for his country are optimistic (minimum semi-final), his take on Hernandez’s future in London was anything but.

He said, relayed by El Sol de Irapuato: “I think he’ll carry on triumphing. Over there, they’re going to throw him out of the West Ham team. It’s a team that isn’t well composed, and that means there’s no one to give him a ball to put in the back of the net”.

Why they would ‘throw him out’ rather than the player look for a way out himself, we don’t know, but those aren’t the words of someone who sees their grandson carrying on in London next year.

Arriving as the goalscoring saviour West Ham have been frantically searching for, Chicharito has scored just eight goals in 26 league appearances this season.

As Baltazar points out, a lot of that comes down to the lack of service, as well as the fact David Moyes doesn’t appear to be the biggest fan of his, seemingly dating back to their time at Manchester United together.

For him to ‘carry on triumphing’, a change is likely needed.
