When Manchester United were drawn out of the ball and announced as Anderlecht’s next opponents in the Europa League, our guess the Belgian club’s players were a bag of mixed emotions.

Of course, facing a team like José Mourinho’s side is always a great opportunity for the fans and the players, yet, with an ambitious squad, going as far as possible in the competition is also important.

And, with the international break upon us, it appears the banter between players of the two clubs has already started, as explained by Anderlecht’s Leander Dendoncker when asked by DH if he had spoken to Marouane Fellaini about the upcoming fixture.

He said: “No, but Youri [Tielemans] told me that Marouane told him they’re going to kill us (smiles). He also said that Old Trafford has a very big pitch. It’s up to us to have a good first game at home, and then we’ll see.”

Much like his teammate at Anderlecht, Dendoncker is having a rather impressive season, and has been called up to the Belgium squad for the third time, having already earned two caps, including playing 90 minutes at centre-back in an 8-1 win against Estonia.

The defensive midfielder has made 45 appearances for the Jupiler Pro League side the season, missing only one game, and scoring three goals.
