On December 27th, we relayed news from Spain that Manchester City were the first club to request reports about Savinho, who is currently on loan at Girona from Troyes.
The winger has five goals and five assists from 20 games this season, and has drawn the attention of several clubs. This includes Barcelona and their sporting director, Deco, has an interest in him.
That’s according to Sport, who suggest Manchester City could make it difficult for the La Liga giants to sign the 19-year-old.
Barcelona are aiming to strengthen their wide positions next summer and the focus is on Savinho, who has become one of the ‘great revelations’ of La Liga this season.
He’s received firm offers from unnamed Premier League and Bundesliga sides this month, but they were all rejected. A decision on the Brazilian’s future has been postponed to next summer and this would please Barcelona.
Manchester City are owned by the City Football Group, who also own both Girona and the French side.
Sport state the City Group could transfer his rights from Troyes to another club they own.
They state: ‘There is even the possibility that Savinho will formally become part of Manchester City, which shows that his price is rising.’
It’s said there have been first contacts with Manchester City, although ‘still very incipient’.
Of course a lot of this is obvious. The player himself has said one of the reasons he joined Troyes in the first place was a dream of playing for Manchester City.
If Pep Guardiola wants him, it’s hard to see the deal not happening.
