One man who the World Cup was very good for is Nacer Chadli. After a disastrous season with West Brom, the Belgian international will have been hoping for some involvement to put himself in the shop window.

Roberto Martinez clearly has a lot of faith in Chadli and the manager showed that by giving the 28 year old four starts and two substitute appearances.

Picking up a goal and an assist along the way, the West Brom player got more minutes and better statistics than he did over the whole of last season for the Baggies.

Not fancying a season in the Championship, Chadli is expected to leave his club this summer and isn’t afraid to speak about that publicly.

During the homecoming welcome for Belgium’s heroes, the footballer talked to the media and made it clear a transfer is on the agenda.

HLN quote Chadli as saying: “It is now time for me to call my agent and ask him what he has in store, I think there’s a number of offers on the table, we are going to look at it all this week quietly and then we will make some decisions.”

The Belgian newspaper say Chadli’s World Cup puts him in the ‘perfect negotiating position’.
