Bought from Brentford for a hefty £20m last summer, Neal Maupay enjoyed a good first season in the Premier League, scoring 10 goals in 37 appearances for Brighton & Hove Albion.

He started things on an even better foot this year with four in his first seven, but a training ground altercation saw him sit out the 2-1 loss against Tottenham.

Maupay was back in the starting line up against Burnley, so that appears to have been put to bed now, and the Frenchman can now go back to doing what he does best, which is scoring.

He’s done it wherever he’s gone, but his best spell came at Brentford, where he was signed from Saint-Etienne.

Prior to that, however, he was at Nice, where he played alongside right-back Lorenzo Vinci, who was amazed at what the Brighton star could do, even back then.

The RC Grasse defender sat down with Actufoot, who asked him who was the best player he’d ever played with.

He said: “Honestly, there, there’s no debate. It’s Neal Maupay! As a youngster, he was already ahead of us and showed a disconcerting maturity. A true phenomenon in all domains. You can see it today with his magnificent career in England”.
