On Saturday we covered an article from Norwegian newspaper Varden which detailed Wolves’ pursuit of John Kitolano getting serious.

Varden have been following Wolves interest for months, with the Premier League club scouting Kitolano and having a previous offer rejected.

The 18 year old left back had been expected to sign a new contract with Odd, and even said so publicly last week, but things have changed quickly since then.

On Saturday Varden reported Kitolano is ‘on his way’ to Wolves and the only question remains whether he goes before the English transfer window closes, or waits and leaves as a free agent in December.

Monday’s edition of the same newspaper continues the story. Odd club director Einar Handlykken is quoted as saying: “If we get a sale to Wolverhampton, then it’s good for us. No, we have not received a concrete bid, but there’s been dialogue.”

The player’s agent Atta Aneke is also quoted: “We have informed Odd that John will never extend the contract with the club. Nothing has happened since Friday. First, the clubs must agree. If they do not, John will be at Odd until December 31st.”

Norway’s football calendar runs to different dates than in the UK, because of the harsh winters, and that’s why Kitolano’s contract ends in December rather than June.
