Out of contract at the end of the season, Fernando Llorente has been a source of speculation of late, especially in Spain.

Talk of the Tottenham striker returning to Athletic Bilbao has been rife, even if those within the La Liga side have tried to play it down as much as possible, all the while leaving a small door open just in case.

Explaining he was enjoying himself in London and wouldn’t be against a renewal, the veteran goalscorer, who will be going to Madrid with Tottenham for a Champions League final, has also been in touch with Napoli.

At least, that’s what his brother/agent Jesus alluded to to Radio Kiss Kiss in Naples.

He said, relayed by Calciomercato: “Napoli? When there are rumours, there’s always a grain of truth. We are Juventus fans, but it would be nice to live an experience at Napoli.”

Referring to the two years his brother spent at Juventus between 2013-15, the representative was clearly suggesting some kind of contact had been made between himself and the Serie A club.

At 34 years of age, Llorente will be heading into the final contracts of his career in the next few years, so choosing his next step will be a big decision.

Our bet is a lot will rest on whether Mauricio Pochettino wants to keep him around next season.

If he does, we can see Llorente spending an extra year in London, especially after the campaign he’s just been a part of.
