Norwich City had to wait until November 6th to register their first league win of the season.
Having managed to beat Brentford on Saturday, the Canaries decided to sack Daniel Farke later that day.
The ongoing international break gives the Premier League side an opportunity to search for the German’s successor.
A handful of candidates are linked and among them is Kjetil Knutsen, who helped FK Bodø/Glimt beat José Mourinho’s AS Roma 6-1 in the UEFA Europa Conference League last month.
The Norwegian’s reputation has grown over the years, after he guided Bodø/Glimt to their first title success in 2020, a year after finishing as runners-up.
Meanwhile, Norway national team manager Ståle Solbakken is not surprised with recent rumours linking Knutsen with the vacant job at Carrow Road.
“He has shown he is ‘The Special One’, so it’s not so strange. When Bodø/Glimt has proven that they can assert themselves in Europe, it will always provide much more fertile ground for such speculation about other clubs,” Solbakken said.
“Bodø/Glimt have been a model club on how they have brought in players, put them into the system, player development and patience. In the last two years, it has paid off for them, so I do not think it is strange (speculation about other jobs).
“They (Norwich) have a sporting director (Stuart Webber) who looks quite a bit to Scandinavia.”
“I know him pretty well. We met at the door at Wolverhampton – he on the way in, me on the way out. I’ve talked to him a lot, even when it comes to Mathias (Normann). He’s a good guy.”
When quizzed if he expects Webber to approach him to ask information about Knutsen, Solbakken said: “No I do not. If that happens, I think he has done the preparation himself, so I do not think you should be afraid of that.”
