Real Betis are not yet concerned about growing interest in Manchester United loanee Antony as they ‘have the player’s word’ ahead of the summer.
That’s according to Estadio Deportivo, who report that Antony has promised to ‘do everything in his power’ to secure another year at the club.
The Brazilian is currently on loan from Manchester United and impressing, with his latest goal coming in the 2-1 win over Fiorentina in the Europa Conference League semi-final first-leg.
He is very much getting his career back on track in Spain following his miserable time at Manchester United and that has set up an interesting summer transfer window for him.
A report today indicated Atletico Madrid are looking into a possible move, having already made inquiries about a possible transfer.
Face with this news, Real Betis are ‘very clear’ about their next step. First, they are comfortable as they have ‘the player’s word’. Antony has ‘promised to do everything in his power’ to continue at Betis for at least another year, especially if they manage to qualify for the Champions League.
Whether that proves to be enough, particularly with Manchester United eyeing up the opportunity to earn back some of their lost money, remains to be seen. But it appears Betis are at least calm about any rumours, betting on Antony’s word for now.
