Tottenham Hotspur have played 10 league matches in 2022 and have won only five of them, suffering defeats in the remaining fixtures. In the last eight matches, they have managed to pick up only nine points.
Spurs’ poor run has seen Antonio Conte publicly talk about his future at the north London club and also encourage his employer to match his ambitions in the summer.
Conte’s former club, Inter Milan, have also had a slump in form as they have managed to win only two of their last eight league matches.
That has now seen them slip to third spot in the league table, with 59 points, trailing [with a game in hand] second placed Napoli by a point and four points behind leaders AC Milan.
Italian journalist Fabio Bergomi has told Calciomercato.it’s CMIT TV he would favour Inter letting Simone Inzaghi leave, if their poor run in the league continues, to replace him with Conte.
“Inzaghi still Inter coach? It is a bit premature, in the sense that he has a contract that they even want to extend. There are very few coaches for Inter, in my opinion he doesn’t have the DNA and the characteristics to be [their coach]. This doesn’t mean he’s not good, but it doesn’t work for the Nerazzurri,” Bergomi said.
“In my opinion, Inter have a good squad and if Inzaghi were to lose the Scudetto in a bad way, he would confirm that it is useless to indulge in a coach who is not from Inter, I would change him immediately without waiting. Simeone? I would like the return of Conte and that’s it.”
Meanwhile, another Italian journalist Fabio Santini has brought another club into the mix for the Tottenham manager.
“Attention: I tell you where Antonio Conte, Gianluigi Donnarumma and Barella will end up,” he told 7 Gold’s program, Il Processo, relayed by Area Napoli.
“As for the Italian coach, there is a strong interest from PSG, who are not satisfied with Pochettino after his elimination from the Champions League. If Antonio Conte goes to PSG, he could also bring Barella to France.
“Speaking of Inter, authoritative sources speak of two sensational sales of the Nerazzurri in the next transfer market session. In addition to Lautaro Martinez, Barella could also leave. Gianluigi Donnarumma is evaluating the idea of leaving France to return to Serie A. Juventus is more than a possibility.”
