As the transfer of Gabriel Sara from São Paulo to Norwich City now seems to be a matter of time, ESPN Brasil shares some updates on the talks.
Just like other local outlets, their report says both club and player have already said ‘yes’ to the offer from the Canaries, and the move only depends on medicals and bureaucratic details.
ESPN Brasil report a source told them ‘All that’s left is to sign’, and someone else who said the deal is attractive to the player, being the best offer he received so far.
“It’ll be very good for the player, who’s 24 years old and has already expressed his desire to play in Europe. And the proposal is much better financially for him and for the club than was the case in the United States at the beginning of the year.”
Amid the conflicting claims regarding the transfer’s price, ESPN Brasil explains that the £12m fee which was previously reported depends on performance goals from the player and Norwich. One of those add-ons will be triggered in case the Canaries get promotion to the Premier League.
The story also adds that São Paulo will keep 10% of a future move. Since Sara is a player from their academy, they also get the 5% from the solidarity mechanism.
The player is currently recovering from an ankle injury, and ESPN Brasil report that once the deal is done, he’s ‘immediately’ travelling to England.
