Borussia Dortmund star Jude Bellingham has revealed what he’s told Erling Haaland ahead of his move to Manchester City.
Haaland is set to complete a move to the Etihad ahead of the summer after Pep Guardiola’s side activated his transfer clause and jumped ahead of the competition.
The deal is now in its final stages, with Manchester City having announced an agreement is in place for him to join the club.
That will bring about an end to a superb spell in Germany with Borussia Dortmund, for whom he has scored 85 goals and registered 23 assists in 88 games since joining from RB Salzburg in 2020.
It also means his strong relationship with Bellingham, another of Dortmund’s rising stars, will be brought to an end.
That’s something the Englishman is sorry to see happen but insists he wishes his teammate nothing but good fortune at Manchester City, who he believes are getting a top player.
“I told him that I’m very happy for him that he can fulfil the next step on his path as a footballer,” he told Ruhr Nachrichten.
“He is a brilliant player, a brilliant guy. That’s what I’m going to miss the most. He’s a really good character.
“I think Manchester City are very lucky to get such a player. And as for our team next season, I think new opportunities will open up.
“We have exciting new additions in Karim Adeyemi, Nico Schlotterbeck and Niklas Süle, and I’m really excited to see what the club builds beyond that for next season. I have full confidence in the club.”
