Liverpool’s Mamadou Sakho has had a difficult time since April, when he was tested positive in a doping test.
The former Paris-Saint Germain defender has been cleared of any charges, but has lost his place in the Liverpool team, and has been playing for the U23s.
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has made it very clear that he has been left disappointed with Sakho’s off the field behaviour, and the 26-year-old faces a daunting task of finding his place back in the Liverpool side.
Sakho has also lost his place in the France national team, having missed out on the Euro 2016 squad.
France national team boss Didier Deschamps has been speaking to Telefoot (via Maxi Foot), and urged Sakho to find a new team in the winter transfer window, if he wants to return to the national team squad.
He said: “I was recently exchanging texts with him. This is obviously a very complicated situation. I don’t think he is completely happy, it should be an option for him to find another club in the winter transfer window.”
At the moment, it appears Liverpool will be content to offload Sakho permanently or on loan during the winter transfer window, as they’ve back-up in Lucas Leiva, Ragnar Klavan and Joe Gomez, whilst Joel Matip and Dejan Lovren remain Jurgen Klopp’s first choice defenders.
