Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Fábio Silva cut short his loan stay at Anderlecht in the winter market and sealed a temporary move to PSV Eindhoven in the same window.

The forward is enjoying life in the Eredivisie and has already admitted he would like to continue at PSV. Last month, PSV manager Ruud van Nistelrooy admitted he remains hopeful of retaining the Wolves owned player beyond this season.

On Friday, Eindhovens Dagblad journalist Rik Elfrink provided an update on the possibility of the 20-year-old extending his stay at Feyenoord on Peesjevee Podcast, relayed by PSV Fans.

Elfrink explained how the Portugal U21 international’s arrival at the Dutch club in January has benefited them.

“It’s nice if you have different options. If possible, that you have a good second striker on board. The arrival of Silva has emotionally led to more pressure on Luuk de Jong’s position,” he said.

“He [Silva] would like to stay. But it is a terribly expensive matter, I understand. How far must PSV go to keep him?”

If Silva were to continue to impress in the remaining fixtures this season, PSV’s desire to retain him could become stronger. At the same time, it could convince Wolves to demand a hefty fee if they do decide to cash in from his sale.

“Wolverhampton will ask a lot of money for him. It must remain affordable. If he does well now, Wolves can charge a lot of money for him,” Elfrink explained.

“He is worthy of PSV. If at all possible, PSV want to continue with him. But you also want to build something. This is a position on which you can build transfer value. You also have to have those kinds of players.”

The journalist remains doubtful of Silva staying at PSV next season and if that happens, the attacker will have to return to Wolves in the summer.
