Manchester United’s Christian Eriksen has less than six months left on his contract and his future seems to be away from Old Trafford.

The Denmark international has found it hard to feature regularly and his game time has further reduced since Ruben Amorim arrived in November. To put it in context, he’s had less than 200 minutes in the league under the current Red Devils manager.

Thomas Gravesen claims Eriksen’s career has gone downwards over the past few years.

The former Everton and Real Madrid man, who is now a pundit for Denmark’s Viaplay, had a chat with Tipsbladet about the Manchester United player. He’s not at all pleased with his compatriot situation at the Premier League club.

Gravesen is of the belief the 32-year-old no longer has a career at Manchester United and also perhaps football too.

“It is 100% over for Christian Eriksen at Manchester United this summer, and I also fear that his career is over,” he said.

“Where is he going to go? Where will he go and earn DKK 60m a year? I have a very hard time seeing that. But now it could be that he could settle for much less? Yes, he has probably earned the money he needs to, but I think that the development that Christian has undergone in the past few years is downward.

“It is sad to see the situation Christian Eriksen is in. He’s one of the players in Denmark who has given us the most. He has shone and been our best man, so it is sad if his career ends like this.”

The pundit insists Denmark manager Brian Riemer shouldn’t include Eriksen in the squad for next month’s internationals due to his situation at Manchester United.

“I have always said that if you want to be a Danish national team player, you have to play regularly at the club,” Gravesen explained.

“It’s a terrible scenario for Christian Eriksen at the moment, where he almost doesn’t play for Manchester United. Eriksen has been a fantastic player for Denmark, but I simply don’t think that you should be selected on your merits. I wouldn’t take Christian Eriksen out for the upcoming matches.”

Eriksen’s compatriot Simon Kjær left AC Milan as a free agent in the summer. He failed to find a new club and ended his playing career last month. Gravesen fears the Manchester United man could do down the same road as Kjær.

“He left Milan and suddenly he was just gone. Half a year passed before he announced what happened. Christian Eriksen will turn 33 shortly, and I fear that history will repeat itself,” he added.
