Tottenham defender Federico Fazio is expected to leave the club this summer, after being left out of the club’s pre-season tour to Australia.
The Argentine spent the last season on loan at La Liga club Sevilla, but managed just over 500 minutes of football throughout the season. If anything, the loan move saw Fazio’s stock fall further.
Another La Liga club Espanyol are said to be interested in the defender, reports Spanish website AS. AS say the only problem from Espanyol could be the financial terms of the deal.
Tottenham are desperate to offload Fazio, and that could work in Espanyol’s favour. The 29-year-old has failed to make the sort of impact that was expected from him when he arrived from Sevilla in a €10m deal.
Fazio has another two years left on his contract at the White Hart Lane. and would be hoping to quickly sort out his future.
This has been the theme of Fazio to Espanyol reporting over the past week. Espanyol are trying to get terms so good, that they may as well ask Tottenham to pay them to take Fazio.
