Rafa Mujica’s move to Las Palmas has been in the works for weeks, yet with just a couple of days left of the window he’s still stuck at Real Oviedo.
Leeds United sent the player to the Spanish side in hope of him getting games and being able to kickstart his development. That would then have made an Elland Road future a possibility, or at least upped the 22-year-old’s value ahead of a potential permanent transfer.
That hasn’t happened, and Mujica needs to move again if he’s not going to waste another season of his young career.
Cope now report there’s a ‘tense wait’ for the attacker, as the call to finalise his move to Las Palmas simply hasn’t come. They need players, specifically forwards, to leave to have the necessary room in their salary budget, and that hasn’t happened yet.
Mujica is said to want the move, but if it can’t be arranged then he and Leeds United will move to find another club in Spain’s second division. That will of course be a job for Victor Orta and he’ll need to work some magic if the situation isn’t sorted out with Las Palmas quickly.
