Napoli have been linked with Aston Villa’s Jhon Duran in the past few weeks.

There was also talk of the fact that discussions have been held with the striker’s entourage, amidst suggestions that not even €40m would be enough to sign the 21-year-old.

An update has now emerged from Italy about the Colombian’s situation at Aston Villa.

Il Mattino report Napoli had a telephone conversation with Duran’s this week but the Birmingham club’s clear stance has now emerged.

Aston Villa have ‘blocked’ the player’s exit in January, even if Napoli boss Antonio Conte is said to be ‘bewitched’ by the idea of signing the Colombia international.

Even if a move in January has been described as pretty much impossible, there could be an opening for a transfer in the summer. Encouragement for that has been handed to the Serie A giants, but it remains to be seen if they would still want him some months later.

Duran has 12 goals in all competitions this season and it is not known how much his valuation could be in the summer.
