Giannelli Imbula could end the transfer window as one of the most fortunate footballers involved in it. Failing to shine at Stoke City, Imbula may get the chance to move to AS Monaco.

Following on from English links of interest, France’s RMC say Leonardo Jardim has telephoned Imbula to express his interest in a possible transfer.

Imbula, unsurprisingly, took that telephone call well and has been ‘seduced’ by the idea of joining Monaco this summer.

There hasn’t yet been ‘anything more concrete’ on the potential transfer, say RMC, however, a manager telephoning a player seems pretty concrete on its own, unless Jardim spends his days ringing around footballers handing out carrots of possible transfers.

Nice and Toulouse are also interested, but clubs are coming up against Stoke City’s unwillingness to accept a loan, and desire for a reasonable transfer fee.

Imbula is said to want a France move, and Monaco certainly have the cash to back up their telephone call, now it’s just a waiting game.
