Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag needs to stop talking about other clubs and focus on matters at Old Trafford instead.
That’s according to journalist Wim Kieft, who has criticised the Dutchman for public comments regarding Liverpool and Ajax.
Ten Hag held a wide-ranging interview with Dutch media before the FA Cup final win over Manchester City in which he discussed various topics including former club Ajax and incoming Liverpool manager Arne Slot.
Those comments did not go down well, with him being accused of being jealous of the incoming Liverpool manager.
It was his comments about former Ajax director of football Marc Overmars which really caused controversy, though, with many baffled by the Manchester United manager’s decision to back his former colleague.
That came across as somewhat tone deaf from the Dutchman, who also appeared to be dodging any criticism of a disappointing second season in charge at Old Trafford.
Kieft was certainly left unimpressed by the comments, criticising Ten Hag today and urging him to stop talking about others and focus on his own affairs moving forwards.
“While you have your hands full with Manchester United, a job you are in the process of getting bored with, as Ten Hag you also lecture everyone in the meantime,” he wrote.
“At Ajax they don’t understand anything. Marc Overmars should have been treated like a saint. It is not Ajax, but Overmars who has been transgressing. You can’t let those misconducts go over your head as a club, but we now know Ten Hag thinks differently.
“After two particularly lean seasons, worry about yourself and Manchester United instead of lecturing others.”
