It seems Brighton & Hove Albion will really need to worry about the Italian interest in Roberto De Zerbi next summer.
Earlier this week, we had already seen reports claiming that Lazio are targeting him, as the coach is said to be their president’s dream.
Now on TMW Radio, De Zerbi ends up being mentioned in a conversation where he wasn’t even supposed to be the subject.
Luca Marchetti was being interviewed and was asked whether Antonio Conte could return to Juventus next summer. Then he pointed out that people should watch out for the Brighton manager.
“I don’t think Conte is the only option for Juventus, there are many great coaches available and a different solution can be considered. All teams can think about De Zerbi, all teams are following the work of coaches like Thiago Motta and Palladino.”
Meanwhile, at Milan News, there’s also the Inter Milan CEO Giuseppe Marotta talking about the possibility of bringing De Zerbi to Italy.
“We have a very good coach in De Zerbi who is in the Premier League, if we imagine bringing him home with what he earns without the Growth Decree (a tax advantage scheme which recently ended), we wouldn’t be able to do it.”
De Zerbi left Italy back in 2021, when he swapped Sassuolo for Shakhtar Donetsk.
When he joined Brighton last year, the Italian media started giving big coverage to his great start in charge of the Seagulls, and that’s when clubs apparently also started paying attention to how good he is. Now we shall see if that will turn into offers in the summer.
