QPR’s Paweł Wszolek was the star of a very odd transfer rumour on deadline day. A report came from Italy claiming Antonio Conte was keen on the player for Chelsea.
That would have taken a whole lot of faith from Conte, it’s one thing doing well for QPR and quite another transferring that to the Premier League leaders half way through the season.
The move was also impossible. Before arriving at QPR on loan, Wszolek had already appeared in a Hellas Verona match this season, and footballers aren’t allowed to represent more than two clubs in any one campaign.
Italy’s Tuttomercatoweb report that now QPR have triggered their buying clause over Wszolek, it doesn’t mean he’s staying there longterm. It’s claimed Southampton are keen on the player, and have already got the wheels in motion.
According to TMW, Southampton have started ‘initial contacts’ over a potential summer transfer. Those contacts, if the claims is true, are likelier to be with the player’s entourage than QPR.
