Former Bordeaux star Henri Saivet signed for Newcastle six months ago in a £5m deal.
The 25-year-old has now been linked with a move away from the Championship club, and it seems he could be on his way back to France.
According to La Provence, Marseille are interested in singing Saivet. Contacts have already been established between Jean-Philippe Durand, head of the Marseille’s recruitment cell, Gunter Jacob, Marseille’s sporting director, and Henri Saivet’s representatives.
It is reported Saivet wants to leave Newcastle, as Rafael Benitez doesn’t really fancy him. La Provence say it remains to be seen if Marseille can complete a deal for the Senegalese midfielder, and that it is ‘far from certain’.
Marseille have been quite active in the English transfer market, and it’s not really surprising to see them being interested in Saivet.
