There’s a claim in the Turkish media that Fenerbahce are ready to step up their pursuit for Celtic forward Daizen Maeda.

The Japan international has been a key player for Brendan Rodgers this season, helping Celtic to another league title. However, this has brought him to the attention of Fenerbahce ahead of the summer transfer window.

Fotomac today report on the latest developments regarding Fenerbahce’s interest in the Celtic attacker and they say an offer is being lined up for him.

It’s claimed the Fenerbahce hierarchy will travel to the UK next week to hold transfer talks with the Scottish champions as they look to get a deal over the line. The Turkish media outlet reports an offer of €10m will be tabled by the Istanbul side, which seems wildly optimistic.

Earlier this week we covered reports that Fener sporting director Mario Branco was ready to move in on Maeida as Jose Mourinho looks to add to this attack ahead of next season.

Maeda has made 51 appearances for Celtic this season, scoring an impressive 33 goals. He’s contracted to the Glasgow club until June 2027 after extending his current deal in 2023.

It’s not unusual for Turkish clubs to believe they can sign players for less than they’re worth, and often after giving it a try with a low bid they move to another target quickly.
