Former Leeds United sporting director Victor Orta was appointed as Monchi’s successor at Sevilla earlier this month. His arrival saw the Spanish club linked with Rodrigo Moreno.

On June 22nd, the 32-year-old’s agent admitted the La Liga side are a club “that will have our interest” and even hinted at a move there in the summer window.

Journalist Javier Bautista has now told El Partidazo de COPE the deal is off after the Europa League winners weren’t able to find an agreement with the Leeds player over personal terms.

He says the ‘negotiations have broken down’ between the two parties as the Andalusian club cannot meet the salary requested by the former Valencia man.

Rodrigo has a year left on his deal and was reportedly expected to leave Leeds’ after their relegation from the Premier League.

The journalist further adds the Spaniard has ruled out returning to his home country because he ‘has offers’ from unnamed clubs from the Middle East.

That theory could be tested if he gets a reasonable offer from Spain.

Rodrigo scored 15 goals and registered two assists from 35 games last season.
