Altınordu’s president has told the Turkish media Manchester City target Berke Özer will stay at club for the foreseeable future. Speaking to Regional newspaper YeniAsır Mehmet Özkan has confirmed they’re not planning to allow players to leave until they will play for the first team.
Mehmet Özkan told YeniAsır: ”Not only him (Berke)… 4 or 5 players are currently being watched by Europe’s biggest clubs. But I told them they will stay here until they’ve played for our first team. First, they’ll have to play and pay their debt to our academy system. Then of course I’m happy for them to leave for the European elite clubs.”
Manchester City scouts have been following Ozer for 2 years, and the 16-year-old is seen of as one the top players of his generation in Turkey.
Manchester City are reported to have started negotiations with Altınordu with regards to signing the young keeper as they prepare to line up an offer, buts it seems for the time being Pep Guardiola won’t land the youngster.
The 16-year old giant goalkeeper is one of the most talented players at his club, and is also highly rated by the Turkish national team. Berke has so far played for the Altınordu U21 team, and he’s been dubbed the ‘Turkish Donnarumma’.
