There’s a Donny van de Beek to Manchester United story which is travelling through the European media and doesn’t seem to have an awful lot of basis behind it.
For example, Le10 Sport today say the Premier League club haven’t given up on the player but would first have to wait and see what happens with an agreement he’s thought to have with Real Madrid.
This is all credited to Marca, yet the Spanish newspaper say the information is coming from the Netherlands.
Over in the Netherlands, quite a few sources, including Voetbal Primeur, also talk about a potential big offer from Manchester United.
However, there’s one big problem… they credit Marca for it.
A little digging shows that earlier Dutch claims, such as an article from Ajax Fanatics, stated things like ‘Manchester United makes huge offer for Van de Beek’.
Yet they don’t claim this information as their own either, crediting back to the English media.
So, therefore, this feels like something which has started in England and then travelled around Europe with a little bit being added.
A while ago it was reported in the Netherlands that a deal to take Van de Beek to Real Madrid was all set up, yet at the time it was made clear in Spain that nothing was finalised and the Ajax player was just an option.
