While Everton would naturally prefer Moise Kean was at their club shining this season, the fact he’s doing so at Paris Saint Germain is a major success nonetheless.
Things didn’t work out at Goodison Park last season for Kean but, rather than selling up at a loss, they elected for the patient route with a loan out to Ligue 1 instead.
That’s worked out wonderfully, with the player currently on 16 goals in 29 games thus far, the latest coming in the impressive win over Barcelona in the Champions League this week.
The deal is working out well for all parties, particularly Everton, whose insistence that there be no purchase clause in the loan is working very much in their favour.
It’s also been a positive for PSG, who signed a player that has had a major impact on more than acceptable terms in a tough financial climate.
That’s seen director of football Leonardo getting plenty of praise as a result, and Calciomercato continue that today, stating that the deal to bring Kean in from Everton was a ‘stroke of genius’.
They explain that the Brazilian has a ‘sweet obsession’ with Kean and tried to sign him for AC Milan back in December 2018, when Juventus were thinking of letting him go.
He made ‘more than one attempt’ to get a deal over the line, but Juve resisted and instead, Leonardo bided his time before getting him to PSG last summer.
That’s worked out well for him in the end, with the deal to sign Kean now considered ‘the story of a great purchase’ amid his goalscoring form.
