Desperately needing an experienced striker for the coming season after seeing both Steven Fletcher and Michy Batshuayi go this summer, Marseille have fixated themselves on Bafétimbi Gomis.
The Swansea goalscorer who, despite starting the season extremely well, struggled to find consistent form, allegedly wants a return to France to regain some confidence.
Never going to be a full transfer considering Marseille’s financial situation, the Ligue 1 club have asked the Welsh club for a free season long loan.
Various reports suggested Swansea were to pay up to 70% of the 30-year-old’s wages for the duration of the deal, but that doesn’t seem to have stopped things from going forward, as the deal is clearly well on its way.
On Friday afternoon, Florian Fieschi, Le Parisien’s Monaco correspondent, tweeted the deal was to be made official ‘imminently’, and the player would be travelling to the south of France at the weekend.

With Paloschi gone, Eder to Lille and now Gomis to Marseille, Swansea are looking a bit short up front…
