Portuguese newspaper A Bola reports on Sunday that Swansea City are keen on signing Lisandro Lopez from Benfica, on loan for the rest of the season.
It would be assumed their claims have been prompted by ESPN, who reported on Saturday that Swansea City are in talks to sign the defender.
Lopez has only started five games for Benfica in the league this season, and in his second Taca de Portugal appearance, on Thursday, he left the pitch with a leg injury and was seen leaving the stadium on crutches.
Whilst the injury isn’t thought to be very serious, it could be considered strange that Paul Clement is targeting a player who has hasn’t featured much this season, and who was last seen on crutches.
West Brom were linked with interest during the summer transfer window, but nothing came of it in the end.
Tony Pulis was credited with interest in many players, but West Brom struggled with several negotiations.
It may be a surprise if Lopez was truly one of those, because Benfica aren’t exactly relying on him.
