As things stand, Bafétimbi Gomis is still a Swansea player, even if that looks set to change this summer.
The Swans’ forward, who spent last season on loan at Marseille, performed admirably well in the south of France, bagging 20 league goals and helping the French side reach a much deserve Europa League spot.
Over the course of the past few months, it appears a game of chicken has taken place between the Ligue 1 side and the former France international, with the former seemingly pulling out of the game.
The latest stories, including one on Friday afternoon from Le10 Sport, suggest the 31-year-old is ready to leave Swansea for Turkey, with Galatasaray wanting to sign him.
In fact, the French website claim the player has already told the Süper Lig what his demands are, which include a salary of €3.5m/year and a three-year deal.
This, logically, should be something the Turkish side are able to afford, but only if Swansea’s demands transfer fee wise are relatively realistic.
After all, the veteran forward only has one year left on his deal at Liberty Stadium, meaning there’s only so much Paul Clement and co. can ask for in the coming months.
Day by day, it appears Gomis is edging closer to Turkey, and further away from Marseille and Swansea.
