Leaving Chelsea to go to AS Monaco, Jonathan Panzo followed in the footsteps of more and more English players searching for game time abroad.

Likely aware his path to the Blues’ first-team was blocked, the centre-back went to the principality side, although things didn’t exactly go to plan.

Unable to fight his way into the starting line up, he was sent on loan to affiliate club Cercle Brugge last season, and an exit is being worked on for this campaign, although he could head to either Swansea City or Derby County.

That’s what Foot Mercato in France are saying, claiming Dijon in France have made the 19-year-old their priority to replace Nayef Aguerd, with talks towards a move already underway.

However, they aren’t the only ones, as FC Metz, Utrecht, Swansea and Derby County are interested in a transfer.

It’s explained Monaco, who bought Panzo for just under £3m, wouldn’t want too much more to see him go, with a fee of €4-5m being mentioned.

That’s certainly affordable for either Swansea or Derby, who will be plying their trade in the Championship next year.

It remains to be seen whether Panzo wants to return to the United Kingdom, but if a move to either Liberty Stadium or Pride Park comes with guaranteed first-team football, that might be enough to do the trick.
