Fanatik have claimed Galatasaray CEO Cenk Ergun is currently in the United Kingdom on a trip to pursue his goal of signing Swansea City forward Bafetimbi Gomis. The Turkish newspaper reports Galatasaray have received a boost in their pursuit of Gomis because Swansea City officials are ready to let the player leave.
Cenk Ergun has also revealed to the Turkish media that Galatasaray president Dursun Ozbek has given the green light to press ahead with the signing of Gomis, with claims the Swansea City player will entertain the move. The 31-year old is Galatasaray’s first choice forward target for next season and the Turkish giants are hoping they can sign him before pre-season training.
However, Milliyet have reported Gomis’ transfer to Galatasaray could be off because of health issues with the player. They claim the Swansea City outcast has some cardiac problems and Milliyet say this could be a very risky for Galatasaray because they believe the weather in Turkey is likely to complicate this.
This sounds very much like conjecture based on Gomis’ collapse in March 2015, and the subsequent Swansea City explanation that it was caused by a ‘vasovagal condition’. It’s hard to believe Cenk Ergun would travel to meet swansea without already having learned about this issue.
