Mark Birighitti signed for Swansea City during the last summer transfer window. The Australian goalkeeper arrived from A League club Newcastle Jets on a two year deal, and had previously picked up European experience from a loan with Varese, a lower division Italian side.

The 26 year old Australian looks like he’ll be quickly leaving Swansea City but it’s unlikely the Premier League club will be making money from the transfer. Brabants Dagblad in the Netherlands report Birighitti is currently on trial with Willem.

Eredivisie club Willem are in 11th place in the Dutch top flight and if Birighitti manages to impress during his trial it could turn into a very good move for the goalkeeper, especially if he’s first choice there.

It was expecting a lot for the player’s Swansea City transfer to really take off, and Birighitti being on trial at Willem suggests he has no future with the Welsh club.
