It seems that Swansea City target João Palhinha isn’t going anywhere on the last day of the January transfer market.

Even though there were a few clubs interested in signing the midfielder, Sporting have blocked his departure this winter, according to Portuguese newspaper Record today.

The outlet writes manager Jorge Jesus is the one who needs the player to stay and has already told the club’s board that. It means that Palhinha would only leave in case of a ‘market blow’, which seems unlikely at this stage of the window.

Record has learned that three clubs made contacts with Sporting showing their interest: Deportivo La Coruña, Bordeaux and Swansea City.

Last week, it was the very same Record who reported Swansea City’s interest in the player, and also claimed that Palhinha himself like the idea of the move.

But apparently with Jesus going against it, no one will contradict his will.
