Swansea City are reportedly one of the clubs who are interested in taking Seydou Doumbia from Sporting this summer.

According to newspaper Record today, the Lisbon side are willing to negotiate the striker in the next transfer window, and there are a few clubs who have already made approaches for him.

These sides would be Swansea City, Basel and Lokomotiv Moscow. The contacts were made in order to know more about his conditions, and haven’t gone any further so far.

The Lions would be demanding €7m to sell Doumbia, in order to recover the investment made in him last summer. They also plan to get rid of his salary, which is €2m after tax per season.

Doumbia has eight goals and two assists in 26 appearances for Sporting this season. With one goal every 153 minutes, that isn’t a bad record, but the problem is he can’t convince Jorge Jesus he deserves a place in the starting team.

Of course €7m seems like a fair amount for a striker, but that should depend on how interested Swansea City really are.

And whether Carlos Carvalhal can secure Premier League status for Swansea.
