Warner Hahn’s contract with SC Heerenveen will expire on June 30th and with the 2019/20 Eredivisie season already cancelled due to the Covid-19 crisis, he is expected to leave the club as a free agent in the summer.

According to Algemeen Dagblad, the 27-year-old is attracting attention from clubs in Europe and Major League Soccer.

Swansea City are one of the sides ‘interested’ in taking the custodian in the upcoming window.

Apart from the Welsh club and MLS, there’s also interest from Turkish side Göztepe SK, while Hahn’s name is on top of Anderlecht’s wishlist.

The Rotterdam-born player has made 20 starts in the league for Heerenveen, conceding 27 goals and keeping four clean sheets in the process.

Steve Cooper’s first choice goalkeeper Freddie Woodman is on loan from Newcastle United until the end of the season and second choice goalkeeper Erwin Mulder’s contract at the Liberty Stadium expires in the summer.

It’s clear the Championship side need to strengthen the goalkeeping position in the next window and the possibility of taking Hahn on a free transfer would be a good option for the Swans.

Meanwhile, the Dutchman’s representative Revien Kanhai admitted Hahn’s contract situation makes him an attracting option for clubs in the summer.

“Warner is of course an attractive player. Many clubs have known him for a long time because he has played in all national youth teams up to and including the Dutch Juniors,” Kanhai told AD.

“It is a matter of waiting for things to be made concrete and to go in the right direction.”

“You also notice that with the clubs, they still have a lot of things unclear. For example when the new season starts and so the contracts of free agents also start.

“However, in England, the clubs do not even know if and how they will complete the season. In that respect it is a very strange period, but we do notice that free agents such as Warner are extra attractive for many clubs due to the financial situation.”

“Yesterday I got a call from a club from Turkey that was tipped about Warner by a former top striker from the Dutch national team.”
