Nico Gaitan hasn’t played a game since November 29th, but Marca explain that hasn’t meant there’s a lack of interest in signing the player.
The problem for Atletico Madrid, and Gaitan himself, is so far that interest hasn’t turned into an offer the Spanish club feel they can accept.
Some clubs are offering a loan move and others, said to include Swansea City, would be prepared for a permanent transfer.
In their Thursday edition, Marca say Mexico’s Monterrey, Argentina’s Boca Juniors, and Swansea City have all made moves to propose a transfer, but none of them have reached the €17-20m which Atletico want to get for the player.
Russian club Zenit have now been brought in as an option, but if they slip away like others have, Atletico will likely have to reassess their demands.
There’s now less than a week left of the transfer window and the Spanish club are in danger of running out of time in the Gaitan saga, that may be good for Swansea if the Welsh club decide to return with a new attempt.
