We’ve been covering Bafétimbi Gomis’ potential transfer to Marseille for a few days now, and it’s all been boiling down to who pays what on the player’s wages.

The Ligue 1 club are looking to sign a couple of strikers this summer to replace Michy Batshuayi and Steven Fletcher.

Marseille want to sign Gomis on loan, but his high wages at the Welsh club are a stumbling block.

It has been reported Marseille want Swansea to pay a large part of Gomis’ wages to conclude a deal.

On Friday, according to L’Equipe in France, Swansea and Marseille have agreed on a loan deal for Gomis, but his wages continue to be a problem.

Swansea have agreed to pay 40% of his wages, but even after that Marseille are finding it difficult to accommodate him in their new wage structure.

Gomis is earning €5m/season at Swansea, and it seems this could drag on for few more days.
