Real Madrid are ‘unclear’ of Raphaël Varane’s plans for future as Manchester United continue to be linked with the centre-back.
According to El Confidencial, the 28-year-old has not communicated he wants to leave nor has he accepted the two renewal offers made by the club.
“We don’t know what to expect as an answer,” a source from the Bernabéu states when explaining the defender’s situation.
The France international’s silence is causing problems for Los Blancos’ plans for the new season. He’s in ‘no rush’ to make a decision, and his stance is ‘interpreted as a selfish position’.
It’s claimed the ex-Lens man considers the La Liga side renewal offer ‘insufficient’. He has been waiting for a better economic proposal for a year and the situation became more complicated following Zinedine Zidane’s exit.
Carlo Ancelotti’s side need answers and have asked for a response before the end of July so that the situation doesn’t get ‘delayed much longer’. If there’s no response, they will make the player available in the market.
The Spanish giants, who are disappointed with Varane’s behaviour, are clear he will not be allowed to leave as a free agent.
Varane’s silence has made Real Madrid nervous and they have come to the conclusion he doesn’t want to renew, with a suspicion he has a ‘very important agreement’ with another club, ‘mainly Manchester United’.
El Confidencial end their report by stating: ‘The renewal has entered a point of tension in which Raphael Varane is managing to wear out Real Madrid to see if they really reach the figures that other clubs can give him.’
To sum it up, Real Madrid still don’t know the star’s future plans and suspect he has an agreement to join Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side. If he decides not to sign a new deal, Varane’s club want to offload him and they ‘don’t contemplate his sale’ for less than €50m.
