Flamengo have emerged as a surprise contender in the race to sign Chelsea’s João Félix in the summer window.
That’s according to Brazilian journalist Venê Casagrande, who took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to cover Flamengo’s interest in the forward.
Last summer, the 25-year-old returned to Chelsea on a permanent move and struggled to shine. Therefore, the Blues let him join AC Milan on loan in the winter market and he’s expected to return to Stamford Bridge after this season.
Flamengo are looking to make an approach for the Portugal international in the upcoming window.
Casagrande says the Brazilian club have opened talks, most likely with the Chelsea man’s camp. Their plan is to sign him on loan with an option to buy and they’ve presented it to his representatives.
The journalist states Flamengo will face competition from Félix’s former club, Benfica, as they are also interested in him.
There’s no mention of Félix or Chelsea’s stance on the possibility of doing business with the South American club.
It would certainly be surprising if the Blues owned player were to move to Brazil.
