Marseille have agreed a deal with Tottenham over the possibility of signing Cameroon international Clinton N’Jie.
The Ligue 1 club are expected to sign N’Jie on loan, and also have an automatic buying option for €7m, which can only be activated after the player features in a certain number of games.
N’Jie was expected in Marseille yesterday to sign the contract, but French newspaper L’Equipe reported other clubs could try to hijack the deal in the last minute.
According to L’Equipe on Friday, Lyon are interested in bringing back N’Jie to the club, and have taken the initial steps to sign him.
Lyon could lose Rachid Ghezzal this summer, as the player has just one year left on his contract and want N’Jie to replace him.
Marseille, however, have the advantage over Lyon, as Tottenham haven’t completed a deal yet for Georges-Kévin N’Koudou.
The North London club are pushing N’Jie to sign for Marseille, and reject approaches from Lyon or Nice, who are also interested in the player.
L’Equipe say Marseille are a step ahead of other interested clubs, and it remains to be seen if they can complete a deal.
