If there is one player many will have been hoping to see under Erik ten Hag at Manchester United, it’s Donny van de Beek.
The midfielder has failed to impress ever since his transfer to Old Trafford, as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was unable to get the best out of him, but with his former manager arriving on the Red Devils’ bench, many were hoping that would change.
There has been every indication the player would be a part of the Dutchman’s plans at Manchester United, at least in pre-season, which is why it comes as a surprise to see Corriere della Sera in Italy claiming he has been proposed to AS Roma.
The newspaper’s Rome edition, looking at some of the deals the Serie A side could do this summer, and finish it off by saying that ‘Van de Beek has offered himself from England’ after returning from Everton, where he spent the second half of the campaign on loan.
Where this has come from, we aren’t quite sure, but it certainly doesn’t make sense, especially after the player was praised a number of times by Ten Hag both during and after their work together.
We would recommend taking this Manchester United story with a pinch of salt for now, but in case you see it spreading around England in the next few days, you know exactly where it’s come from.
