At the end of the last week, Tottenham Hotspur fullback Emerson Royal told the story about his move from Barcelona to Tottenham Hotspur.

The Brazilian claimed he wasn’t expecting to be sold by the Catalan side durin the summer, and even confirmed that he had talks with Arsenal before agreeing the move to Spurs.

Now it was time for Emerson to speak to the Spanish media, in an interview with DAZN, to talk about the outcome of this transfer to the Premier League.

“The project is to be in a very competitive league, in a club that are going to fight for big things,” Emerson told DAZN.

“For me it’s an incredible project. When I leave Barcelona and I see that I’m going to come to a very competitive league and to a club like Tottenham which is going to help me a lot, in every way… it’s an incredible project. “

The Brazilian also talked about the different football he’s found in the Premier League, explaining he’s still working to adapt to a more physical way of playing.

“Here is a more box-to-box game, back and forth and a lot of shock. It changes a bit, Spanish football is a bit more technical. There are teams that play like the Premier, like Getafe, and these teams that fight.

“The difference in the Premier League is the strength and rhythm of the games. There are a lot of crashes, you run a lot, you get very tired and you have to get used to that. In the end, I’m going to get used to it little by little and, surely, in a short time I’ll be adapted.”

And when talking about his former side Betis, for whom he played until the end of last season, the fullback showed much gratitude for the club who opened doors for him in Europe.

“They helped me since I arrived, that I came from a Brazilian league that had nothing to do with the Spanish league. Surely, later on, I’ll play for Betis again.”

Since joining Tottenham this summer, Emerson made six appearances for the club, which were enough for him to return to Brazil’s squad.
