Lautaro Martínez’s future at Inter Milan beyond this campaign remains uncertain despite signing a new contract last October, and despite his agent insisting his client is happy at the San Siro.
Tottenham Hotspur looked at him last summer but were unsuccessful in any efforts for the 24-year-old. Reports from recent weeks have named them as one of his suitors ahead of the next market.
On Friday, Tuttosport stated the north London club could ‘come back’ for the attacker after this season.
These claims are further backed up by Sky Italia journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, who was at the Etihad for Manchester City’s 1-0 win over Atlético Madrid on Tuesday. His comments are relayed by FcInter1908.it.
“Who will Tottenham go to if they qualify for the Champions League? Surely Antonio Conte wants another striker,” he said.
“We know that, even before he arrived in London, Fabio Paratici had tried to take Lautaro Martinez, but then Inter sold Lukaku and could not sell both.
“I expect a possible Tottenham offensive for him. Then it is true that he has renewed, but it is possible that Tottenham could present themselves again and we’ll see what kind of offer they might present.”
Antonio Conte’s side are fourth in the table with 54 points from 30 games and are level on points with fifth placed Arsenal, who have a game in hand. The two clubs are three points ahead of sixth placed West Ham United and seventh placed Manchester United.
