Even though the Argentine media has been quiet about Boca Juniors’ efforts to sign Arsenal midfielder Lucas Torreira, his dad won’t stop talking about it.
Ricardo Torreira spoke to El Show de Boca this week, and once again claimed that the player is very keen on joining the Argentine side.
This time, however, he admitted they’ve been talking too much about it, and that’s been putting pressure on Boca Juniors to make the signing.
“The arrival of Lucas Torreira to Boca will be quite difficult, there hasn’t been a movement of the situation. It happened only from a wish, we generated an inconvenience to Boca,” Ricardo Torreira told Show de Boca (via TNT Sports).
“Probably, I don’t know if Boca are in a position to face what Arsenal will ask for Lucas’s loan. I don’t know… Maybe for that money he can get a number 5 in South America.”
“Surely, I do not think Lucas will play for Arsenal this year. If it’s not Boca, his destiny will be Italy or France. We are left with the desire, instead of generating joy we generate an inconvenience to Boca’s leadership.”
Lucas Torreira is loaned by Arsenal to Atletico Madrid until the end of the season. The Spanish media many times claimed the Colchoneros will not make any efforts to keep the player, since he’s failed to impress since joining the club last summer.
The midfielder’s contract with the Gunners only expires in 2023, and that’s why there’s the feeling in Argentina that the Premier League side would demand a fee to let him go, regardless of a loan or a permanent deal.
