Liverpool could be set to rival Everton to sign Hoffenheim midfielder Maximilian Beier after putting the rising star on their list of potential targets.
That’s according to SportBILD, who name the Reds as an interested party in the 21-year-old as he continues to impress this season.
They cover him today and quotes from Hoffenheim sporting director Alexander Rosen, who sings his praises whenever he is given the chance.
“Maxi Beier is a super guy and an extremely talented striker. He is incredibly fast, goal-threatening and can kick really well. For me, Maxi is one of the absolute shooting stars of this Bundesliga season,” he is quoted as saying.
That’s something which has been reflected in his performances and the fact he’s already on Julian Nagelsmann’s list for the German national team ahead of Euro 2024.
Hoffenheim are more than aware of his talent and are relying on him to help them maintain a balance in their budget in future, with a belief he could soon become ‘the hottest transfer stock’.
One thing is clear to them and that’s if he continues like he has, it will be difficult to keep him in the summer, particularly as he has a €30m clause in his contract. SportBILD say several English clubs, including Liverpool, ‘have him on the list’.
One of those will be Everton, who have been linked throughout this year, with the last report at the end of October stating that they were showing concrete interest in him.
Their opportunity would now seemingly have passed, with Liverpool capable of spending more than Everton and a more attractive destination, if they are in the race and ready to compete with their city rivals for Beier’s signature.
